      Ramipril , Hydrochlorothiazide

      Used For

      Hypertension

      How it works

Ramipril and hydrochlorothiazide has antihypertensive and diuretic effects. Ramipril and hydrochlorothiazide are used singly or together for antihypertensive therapy. The antihypertensive effects of both substances are complementary. The blood-pressure-lowering effects of both components together are greater than the effect of either monotherapy. In patients treated with ramipril and a thiazide diuretic there was essentially no change in serum potassium .

ACE inhibitors , aliskiren-containing medicines , Angiotensin-II receptor antagonists (AIIRAs) , potassium-retaining diuretics (e.g. spironolactone), potassium salts , Vasopressor sympathomimetics , Allopurinol, immunosuppressants, corticosteroids, procainamide, cytostatics , Lithium salts , Antidiabetic agents (e.g. Insulin and sulfonylurea derivatives) , Vildagliptin , temsirolimus , Neprilysin (NEP) inhibitor , Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. Indomethacin) and acetylsalicylic acid , Heparin , Corticosteroids, carbenoxolone, large amounts of liquorice, laxatives , Digitalis preparation , Alcohol.

      Indication

For the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension in patients (in whom combination therapy is appropriate) who have been stabilized on the individual components given in the same proportion .

      When not to Use

It must not be used • In patients with hypersensitivity to ramipril, any other ACE inhibitor, hydrochlorothiazide, other thiazide diuretics, sulfonamides or any of the excipients .• In patients with a history of angioedema • concomitantly with sacubitril/valsartan therapy . Do not initiate until sacubitril/valsartan is eliminated from the body. In case of switch from ramipril/hydrochlorothizaide to sacubitril/valsartan, do not start sacubitril/valsartan until ramipril/hydrochlorothizaide is eliminated from the body. • In patients with severe impairment of renal function with a creatinine clearance below 30 ml/min per 1.73 m² body surface area, and in dialysis patients. • In patients with haemodynamically relevant renal artery stenosis, bilateral or unilateral in the single kidney .

      Co-Tritace Tablets Precautions

      Precaution

Dual blockade of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system by combining Ramipril , Hydrochlorothiazide with an angiotensin-II receptor antagonist (AIIRA) or with aliskiren is not recommended since there are increased risk of hypotension, hyperkalemia and changes in renal function.

      Co-Tritace Tablets Warnings

      Warning 1

Angioedema occurring during treatment with an ACE inhibitor necessitates immediate discontinuation of the drug.

      Warning 2

Treatment with Ramipril , Hydrochlorothiazide requires regular monitoring of serum sodium, potassium, calcium, uric acid, and blood glucose. More frequent monitoring of serum potassium is necessary in patients with impaired renal function.

      Warning 3

It is recommended that the white blood cell count be monitored to permit detection of a possible leucopenia. More frequent monitoring is advised in the initial phase of treatment and in patients with impaired renal function, those with concomitant collagen disease (e.g. lupus erythematosus or scleroderma) or those treated with other drugs that can cause changes in the blood picture .
