It may be used to treat conditions caused by low calcium levels such as bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia/rickets), decreased activity of the parathyroid gland (hypoparathyroidism), and a certain muscle disease
Check the label for calcium and vitamin D combination product to see if it should be taken with or without food. Take the regular tablet with a full glass of water. The chewable tablet must be chewed before you swallow it. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet.
Nausea, vomiting, constipation , increased thirst or urination , muscle weakness, bone pain or confusion, lack of energy, or feeling tired.
In increased activity of the parathyroid gland . It is also not be used when there is high amount of calcium in the blood or Dehydration , constipation ,kidney stones , decreased kidney function & tumor that dissolves bone.
Store at 15-30 degrees.
Calcium can make it harder for your body to absorb certain medicines, and some medicines can make it harder for your body to absorb vitamin D.
If you take other medications, take them at least 2 hours before or 4 to 6 hours after you take calcium and vitamin D combination.
Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other vitamin D products (such as calcitriol); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
This medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: high calcium/vitamin D levels (hypercalcemia/hypervitaminosis D), difficulty absorbing nutrition from food (malabsorption syndrome).
Vitamin D plus calcium supplementation during pregnancy appears to reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia, while vitamin D alone appears to reduce the risk of low birth weight and preterm delivery. However, supplementation with vitamin D plus calcium appears to increase the risk of preterm birth.
Calcium can decrease the absorption of other drugs such as tetracycline antibiotics (for example, doxycycline, minocycline), bisphosphonates (e.g., alendronate), estramustine, levothyroxine, and quinolone antibiotics (e.g., ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin).
