This medicine is indicated for bacterial vaginosis for adult women.
It can cause urinary tract infeections, joint pain, edema, hypoglycemia.
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug.
Secnidazole may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine) to not work as well. Do not have any immunizations/vaccinations while using this medication unless your doctor tells you to.
Because of the possible risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug and for 4 days after stopping this drug is not recommended.
Avoid chronic use.
Should be use on strong vaginal bacterial infections.

This medicine affect hormonal birth control such as pills, patch, or ring, a few antibiotics (such as rifampin, rifabutin) can decrease their effectiveness.
