It is used as a local anesthetic (numbing medicine). Bupivacaine blocks the nerve impulses that send pain signals to your brain.

Abnormal heart rhythms, anxiety, blurred vision, cardiac arrest, cardiovascular collapse, chest pain, chills or shivering, confusion/disorientation, dizziness, drowsiness, constricted pupils.
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug.
